Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a type of talk therapy based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are interconnected. I work with clients to identify negative thought patterns and behaviours that can contribute to mental health challenges. CBT is a practical and goal-oriented approach, so you and I will often set specific goals for each session. I may assign you exercises for outside of the session to reinforce the skills and strategies learned in therapy. Over time, as you develop new ways of thinking and behaving, you will become better able to manage your mental health challenges and improve your overall well-being.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a brief, evidence-based therapy that utilizes eye movements
to reprogram distressing memories. ART effectively treats trauma, anxiety & depression, often
resulting in rapid symptom relief. This approach helps individuals process emotions & alter negative images, promoting long-lasting peace & wellbeing.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

The key principles and practices of Trauma-informed therapy are prioritizing safety, building trust and transparency, validating experiences, emphasizing choice and collaboration and focusing on strengths. This approach differs from traditional therapy by exploring not what’s wrong with you but rather what happened to you. A session might involve using body-based interventions to help clients reconnect with their sense of safety and stability in their body by using grounding techniques such as mindfulness, as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (see above). The most important goal is not just to treat trauma but to create a therapeutic environment that avoids causing further harm or re-traumatization.
